Step by step to becoming a rock star
In my many years of teaching, I have taught many children and young people and have often been able to accompany extraordinarily talented children as they make music. In order to give these children, who enjoy making music so much, the opportunity not only to play for themselves at home but also to connect with other like-minded people, the Vienna Children's Ensembles should provide the necessary space for this. Under professional leadership, the aim of every band is to rehearse a performance-ready program and to perform it at the end of the semester as part of a concert. It is very important to me to give the children as much freedom and space as possible to try things out during the lessons. Making music should be fun. But since it can quickly end in chaos without leadership, I am there to help.
To ensure optimal music making, an ensemble consists of a minimum of 3 and a maximum of 8 children. Drums, bass, guitar, piano/keyboard, vocals, but also wind instruments or other instruments are very welcome. To ensure that the fun factor remains as high as possible, only children/young people of similar levels play in a band. So together we'll look at what your previous knowledge is and who might harmonize best with whom. In the 70 minutes we rehearse every week (excluding school holidays; 17 sessions in total), we want to make the songs we choose sound good as quickly as possible and we will learn a few things:

Sound ...how important it is to choose the right sounds for the respective song (e.g. with effects devices or other tricks).
Groove ...how to “groove” together and make the rhythm a unit.

Dynamics ...how to play dynamically to keep the listener interested.

Arrangement ... how to arrange/divide instruments so that they don't get in the way of each other but complement each other.

Communication ...how important it is to communicate with others while playing.

Performance ...how to stand on stage with self-confidence and the right body language.
All of these aspects are key elements for professional-looking performances that are also used every day in the everyday life of a professional musician. In my course I would like to show you how wonderful it can be to work creatively with others, to have a common goal and to present the result at the end. For many children, these first performances are moments that they remember for the rest of their lives and that help them grow enormously.

The recording studio in which we rehearse is equipped with the highest quality drums, guitar and bass amplifiers, keyboards and microphones. Due to the acoustic optimization of the room and because of the size of around 22 square meters, music can be played comfortably there even with a larger cast. There is also the option to record the samples. There is also a small lounge.
